Case Study: Margulies Perruzzi Architects
As Rhino PR’s first and oldest client, Margulies Perruzzi Architects (MPA), formerly Margulies & Associates, one of Boston’s most innovative architectural and interior design firms, has evolved its public relations focus and efforts over the last five years. The firm has always been PR-savvy, understanding the value of public relations over traditional advertising and pursuing its marketing efforts with a cutting-edge vigor. Equally, from its early days, Rhino Public Relations has always created a PR program customized for each client, with the approach that public relations be fluid and adaptable to the market and a company’s needs. The match in approach and process is what has sustained the MPA and Rhino PR relationship for five years.
MPA originally engaged Rhino PR with the goal of expanding its PR spotlight to include all the principals in the firm, not just its founding principal Marc Margulies. Founded in 1988 as Margulies & Associates, the firm had grown into a large team of highly talented and experienced professionals. As such, Rhino PR focused its efforts on targeted coverage and press releases announcing new and completed projects. During the second year of working together, the PR program shifted towards winning industry awards and accolades. Working with MPA’s experienced marketing staff, Rhino PR submitted and won many awards for MPA. In 2008, MPA marked its 20th anniversary with a new name, new partner and new office space, and Rhino PR calibrated its PR program with MPA’s rebranding efforts as one of the firm’s principals, Daniel P. Perruzzi, Jr. AIA, became a partner and the firm name changed to Margulies Perruzzi Architects.
The Boston Business Journal ranks Margulies Perruzzi Architects each year as one of the largest architectural firms, and the firm’s diverse expertise now spans the corporate, professional services, real estate development, healthcare, and research and development fields. Ever adapting, in 2009 Rhino PR’s public relations efforts for MPA have focused on the firm’s embrace of sustainable design, its expanded focus on design for healthcare, and its commitment to an interactive design process using technology.
